Banks are the largest sector on the Chilean stock market. Retail, electricity and raw-material companies also make up a large part of its value. The large copper producers, such as the state company Codelco, do not have shares on the Santiago exchange. If you buy only Chilean stocks, a large part of your money depends on a few sectors. To diversify, which means spreading your money across many sectors, combine these stocks with investments from other sectors or markets.
