Aguas Andinas Signs Social Housing Pact With MINVU

Aguas Andinas signed a collaboration agreement with Chile's Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (MINVU) to accelerate social housing developments across the Santiago Metropolitan Region. The mechanism establishes formal timelines to evaluate sanitation feasibility and potentially expand the company's operational territory.

Under the agreement, MINVU will notify Aguas Andinas of priority sites outside its current operational area. Aguas Andinas will then have 15 days to deliver required technical and regulatory data. Once that information is received, the company will have 20 business days to issue its sanitation feasibility assessment, determining connection points, potential lift station requirements, and any extra network capacity needed.

The joint initiative has already identified a site in the San Bernardo district to enable the construction of 5,200 homes. After technical terms are confirmed, Aguas Andinas will issue a pre-feasibility certificate, followed by an agreement to expand its operational territory so it can formally request the concession from the Superintendency of Sanitary Services (SISS).

Aguas Andinas noted that over the past two decades, its sanitation customer base expanded from 3.6 million to 6.1 million clients, adding more than 112,000 new customers each year.
