Arista introduces rack-scale Ethernet fabrics for AI
The new architectures support up to 1,024 accelerators and reduce data center footprint by nearly 50%.
Arista Networks announced its open Ethernet rack-scale portfolio on October 7, 2026. The new systems target high-density scale-up and scale-out artificial intelligence infrastructure. They were developed in partnership with technology firms including AMD, Arm, Broadcom, d-Matrix, Meta, Microsoft, and Qualcomm, leveraging the Ethernet for Scale-up Networks initiative.
The company introduced Etherlink SU-144, an architecture that connects up to 144 accelerators in a single rack with liquid cooling and scales up to 1,024 accelerators across racks. Arista offers three physical form factors: an orthogonal chassis with 100 kW to 400 kW liquid cooling support, a cabled backplane, and a modular cross-rack system. Operators can run either Arista EOS or an open network operating system.
For scale-out fabrics, the designs incorporate liquid-cooled 7060EX7 switches delivering 102.4 Tbps capacity per switch, alongside Ultra Ethernet Consortium standards and dynamic load balancing. Using next-generation optics such as XPO and open CPO/NPO increases rack bandwidth from 1.6 Pb/s on current OSFP switches to 6.5 Pb/s, which cuts the overall data center footprint by nearly 50%.
