Shares climbed roughly 1.3% even as monthly handovers dropped 10.5% year over year.
Boeing delivered 51 aircraft in August, marking a 3.8% decline from July and a 10.5% decrease compared to the same month last year. Investors looked past the slowdown on 8 September, pushing the company's shares up approximately 1.3% to $215.075.
The monthly total included 41 of the 737 MAX jets and four 787 Dreamliners, down from nine Dreamliners delivered in August 2025. Boeing has handed over 54 Dreamliners so far this year and maintained its annual target of 90 to 100 units. Reaching the 95-jet midpoint will require delivering 41 more Dreamliners over the final four months of the year, which is an average of more than ten aircraft per month.
The delivery pace is key for cash generation. Boeing generated $631 million in quarterly free cash flow, while its total order backlog reached a record $715 billion.
