The Pentagon raised the KC-46 contract ceiling to $19.1 billion, but no funds were obligated immediately.
The Boeing Company secured a $13.4 billion increase to its KC-46 Pegasus Combat Capability contract on 15 September 2026. The modification more than triples the contract ceiling from $5.7 billion to $19.1 billion and extends the agreement through April 2035.
The Pentagon also expanded the framework to include Foreign Military Sales, incorporating Japan and Israel with the potential for additional partner countries to join. However, the Pentagon obligated no funds at the time of the award. The change expands future defense sales capacity without immediately boosting Boeing's revenue or backlog.
Investor positioning shows mixed sentiment regarding the company's turnaround. According to Insider Monkey's database, 90 hedge funds held Boeing stock at the end of the second quarter, down from 99 in the first quarter. Pentwater Capital Management cut its stake by 13% to 6.2 million shares, while Fisher Asset Management raised its position by 4% to 6.1 million shares. Short interest recently rose to 2.02% of the public float.
