The Brazilian industrial group split its top leadership roles after 24 years.
On 3 September 2026, Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional announced a change in its top leadership after 24 years. The company appointed former Vale chief executive Fábio Schvartsman as executive president.
Benjamin Steinbruch, who led the group as CEO, moved to chair the board of directors. CSN stated that the reshuffle aims to strengthen corporate governance and split key responsibilities between the two leaders.
Schvartsman will oversee executive management, day-to-day operations, and strategic execution. Steinbruch will focus on long-term strategy, major capital investments, and value creation opportunities.
Founded in 1941, CSN operates integrated businesses across steelmaking, mining, cement, logistics, and energy throughout Brazil and international markets.
