Dow Jones rises 0.83% to lead Wall Street gains
Major US indexes closed the week higher alongside Mexican equities and crude oil on October 9, 2026.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.83% to reach 51,654.95 points on Friday, October 9, 2026, leading broad gains across Wall Street benchmarks. The Nasdaq climbed 0.64% to 27,366.17 points, and the S&P 500 gained 0.59% to stand at 7,811.54 points. Investors looked past geopolitical issues and elevated US bond yields, focusing instead on expectations for tech earnings growth.
According to analysis from Bloomberg, sustained economic expansion has helped equity benchmarks remain resilient through market turbulence. Traders rebound as they prepare for the upcoming corporate earnings season, looking past the pressure of higher yields and global friction.
In Mexico, both domestic stock exchanges also advanced during the session. The S&P/BMV IPC index of the Mexican Stock Exchange rose 1.63% to 66,048.56 points. Meanwhile, the FTSE BIVA index of the Institutional Stock Exchange gained 1.57% to close at 1,336.21 points.
In international energy markets, West Texas Intermediate crude oil increased 0.39% to settle at 91.85 dollars per barrel. Brent crude advanced 0.12% to trade at 104.41 dollars per barrel.
