Shares rose 0.9% to $322.71 as the facility adds 75 jobs over five years.
GE Aerospace plans to spend $225 million to upgrade its research center in Niskayuna, New York. Following the announcement, the jet-engine maker saw its shares rise about 0.9% to $322.71 on Friday.
The company will allocate about $150 million to infrastructure at the site. Roughly $75 million will go toward research equipment and technology. GE Aerospace stated that the project will support artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced materials and aircraft propulsion.
The expansion will add 75 jobs over five years and is backed by $13.7 million in state and local incentives. American Machinist reported that the facility upgrade will also support federally backed aerospace research.
