The Mexican peso closed slightly stronger against the greenback at 16.90 pesos per dollar, according to data from Banco de México. The move represented an appreciation of 0.05% or 0.92 centavos. In bank branches, Banamex quoted the dollar at 17.32 pesos. Markets weighed the August inflation report alongside the 2027 Economic Package, which proposes raising tax collection by curbing evasion.

The US Dollar Index rose 0.04% to 98.83 points, while the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index fell 0.03% to 1,186.97 units. In fixed income, the US 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.81%, while the Mexican 10-year bond yield was 9.31%.
Across emerging markets, the Russian ruble led gainers with a 0.91% increase, followed by the Indonesian rupiah at 0.67%, Colombian peso at 0.28%, South Korean won at 0.19%, Philippine peso at 0.18%, Taiwan dollar at 0.15%, and Thai baht at 0.08%. On the downside, the Brazilian real lost 0.46%, the South African rand fell 0.32%, the Chilean peso dropped 0.30%, the Indian rupee shed 0.29%, the Czech koruna decreased 0.25%, and the Malaysian ringgit slipped 0.18%.
