Netflix is celebrating 15 years of operations in Mexico, which serves as the streaming platform's regional base for Latin America. The service debuted in the country in 2011 and launched "Club de Cuervos" in 2015 as its first original series produced outside the United States.
The company announced that its presence contributed more than MXN$50,000 million to Mexico's gross domestic product between 2016 and 2025. That total is equivalent to approximately US$2,700 million over the period.
Alongside its anniversary milestone, Netflix announced a slate of 15 upcoming productions. The pipeline spans five feature films, four scripted series, four documentaries, and two reality competition shows.
The upcoming lineup includes films such as Jorge Michel Grau's "Contra el huracán" and Diego Luna's "Ceniza en la boca." Documentary projects cover boxer Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez, the legacy of subcomandante Marcos in Chiapas, and the life of the captive orca Keiko.
