The US dollar opened lower in Peru on Monday, September 21, starting the session at PEN 3.357. According to official data from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), the currency had closed the previous session on Friday at PEN 3.361. So far this year, the dollar has accumulated a 0.09% decline compared to its final 2025 level of PEN 3.364.
In the informal parallel market, currency exchange houses bought dollars at PEN 3.299 and sold them at PEN 3.379, according to data from cuantoestaeldolar.pe. In the banking market, the average exchange rate stood at PEN 3.245 for purchases and PEN 3.365 for sales.
Globally, the US dollar remained relatively firm as investors weighed expectations that the Federal Reserve will maintain a restrictive stance and potentially adjust interest rates further before year-end. Meanwhile, Brent crude retreated during the day but remained above $100 per barrel, easing inflation concerns while trade tensions between the United States and China and tensions in the Middle East continued to draw market attention.
