Petrobras settles Bahia labour claims for BRL 193 million

Petrobras agreed to a labour settlement of BRL 193,267,843.82 with the Bahia State Oil Workers Union. The agreement was approved on Monday 14 September by the Regional Labour Court of Bahia. It resolves 169 enforcement lawsuits arising from a collective action.

The settlement benefits 761 current and former workers tied to the Taquipe base in São Sebastião do Passé, located in the Salvador metropolitan area, under administrative work schedules. The amount includes social security and tax charges. Court costs were set at BRL 16,951.10.

A definitive ruling had recognized worker rights to one hour of overtime per day worked due to partial suppression of rest breaks. The payout covers that overtime plus standard contractual premiums, vacation bonus differences, and contingent bonuses. The hearing took place at the 2 de Julho courthouse in Salvador during the 16th National Labour Enforcement Week.

Petrobras will have up to 120 days starting Monday 21 September to deposit individual amounts once workers submit consent forms or specific power of attorney. If Petrobras fails to pay, it faces a 20% fine on unpaid amounts, immediate asset freezes via Sisbajud, and possible registration on Brazil's National Bank of Labour Debtors.
