Domestic demand supported growth as the economy expanded 2.60% year on year.
Spain's gross domestic product expanded 0.7% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the previous three-month period. The figure is slightly above the 0.6% expansion recorded in the first quarter and matches the preliminary estimate.
Domestic demand contributed 1.1 percentage points to economic growth, while external demand subtracted 0.5 percentage points. Household spending increased 1.2%, government consumption grew 0.5%, and gross fixed capital formation rose 1.7%.
Exports of goods and services increased 1.0% quarter on quarter, which is 0.1 percentage point higher than in the first quarter. Imports rose 2.6%, up 2.5 percentage points from the rate logged in the preceding quarter.
Compared with the same period of 2025, Spain's GDP expanded 2.60% in the second quarter of 2026. The annual growth rate averaged 2.12% between 1996 and 2026, with an all-time high of 19.80% in the second quarter of 2021 and a record low of -21.50% in the second quarter of 2020.
