US stock index futures traded near stability on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Dow Jones futures slipped 0.11% and S&P 500 futures fell 0.02%, while Nasdaq futures rose 0.15%.
Investors await the August job openings and labor turnover survey, alongside the September US consumer confidence index. Market participants are also monitoring scheduled speeches by six Federal Reserve officials for signals on monetary policy, while tracking Middle East tensions and rising US Treasury yields.
The market is also watching a lunch meeting between US President Donald Trump and artificial intelligence executives, including Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, and Dario Amodei, head of Anthropic. The discussion centers on technology risks and their economic impact.
In Europe, the STOXX 600 climbed 0.29%, Germany's DAX gained 0.14%, the UK's FTSE 100 rose 0.18%, Italy's FTSE MIB added 0.51%, and France's CAC 40 remained unchanged at 0.00%. Spain's preliminary annual inflation reached 4.9% in September, exceeding the 4.6% forecast by economists polled by Reuters.
In Asia-Pacific markets, the Shanghai SE rose 0.18% and Australia's ASX 200 gained 0.34%, while Japan's Nikkei fell 0.60%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index lost 0.48%, and India's Nifty 50 dropped 0.59%.
Among commodities, Brent crude rose 0.34% to $105.64 per barrel and WTI crude gained 0.26% to $92.86 per barrel. Iron ore on the Dalian Commodity Exchange traded up 2.33% at 811.50 yuan ($118.14), despite port arrivals pressuring domestic prices, while Bitcoin rose 0.78% over 24 hours to $84,069.50.
