ZEC gained over 14% on the week as mining returns outpaced Bitcoin.
Zcash reached a nine-year high near $1,155 on Saturday, 12 September 2026. The cryptocurrency gained more than 14% across the week, pushing its market capitalization to roughly $19.5 billion. The weekly move roughly doubled the price of Zcash since mid-August 2025 and surpassed its early 2018 peak of around $800. It remained 11% below the week's intraday peak of around $1,300 and had slipped 2.51% over the past 24 hours.
Asset manager Grayscale reported that its Zcash fund (ZCSH) collected about $179 million in 11 trading days, lifting total assets under management past $700 million. Zcash has advanced 59% since the fund's launch, placing the vehicle in the top 1% for net asset growth among roughly 4,000 exchange-traded products. On Stocktwits, retail message volume around Zcash jumped more than 870% over the past month, while sentiment settled in bullish territory.
Grayscale estimated that Zcash mining rewards were twice as high as Bitcoin per rig per day and about four times higher per megawatt-hour. Total Zcash mining expanded by more than 2.5 times in 2026. Grayscale noted that daily mining rewards stand near $2 million for Zcash compared with roughly $35 million for Bitcoin, meaning individual payouts fall as more miners connect to the fixed reward pool.
Zcash has climbed more than 123% year to date, outperforming Bitcoin, which traded at $77,295 after falling almost 3% on the week and over 11% this year. Bitcoin gained 0.4% over the prior 24 hours, while retail chatter around it rose over 88% in a month amid extremely bearish sentiment.
