China Resources Microelectronics Limited (CR Micro) functions as an investment holding company with diverse operations across the semiconductor industry. Its core business activities encompass open foundry services, integrated circuit (IC) design, IC testing and packaging, and the development of discrete semiconductor devices. In its foundry segment, CR Micro offers advanced IC manufacturing solutions to both fabless design firms and integrated device manufacturers. These services are underpinned by a range of analog and power process technologies, such as mixed-signal, complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) logic, planar and trench double diffused metal oxide semiconductor (DMOS), bipolar and CMOS technology (BiCMOS), and BCDMOS devices. Beyond manufacturing, the company excels in the design and development of various semiconductor integrated circuit products. This includes microcontrollers (MCUs) and System-on-Chips (SoCs) for audio and video processing, as well as analog and mixed-signal ICs tailored for power management and LED driver applications. Furthermore, CR Micro develops consumer ICs and wafers, encompassing components like single-chip radio circuits, audio and calculation amplifiers, encoder/decoder circuits, LCDs, voice and music chips, clock and watch circuits, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and photoelectric coupled receiver chips. CR Micro also offers comprehensive IC assembly, testing, and packaging services to other semiconductor companies. Lastly, the company is involved in the development and production of power semiconductor discrete devices, which find applications in energy-efficient lighting, household appliances, industrial control systems, and personal computing. CR Micro maintains a global footprint, with operations spanning Mainland China, other Asian markets, the United States, and Europe. Founded in 1997, the company initially operated as CSMC Technologies Corporation before adopting its current name, China Resources Microelectronics Limited, in 2008. A stock is a fraction of ownership in a real company. Buy one share and you own a piece (usually a tiny piece) of every desk, factory, contract and brand the company runs. The price moves because the market keeps revising what that whole pie is worth.
The price-to-earnings ratio is how much investors are paying for one dollar of a company's profit. A multiple, never an absolute. Always compared to something: a sector, a region, the company's own past.
Dividend yield is the annual income a stock or ETF pays out, expressed as a percentage of what you paid for it. It is the visible part of total return: the cash that lands in your account every quarter, and the lever most retail investors actually feel.
Market cap is shares times price. A simple formula that produces wildly unequal numbers: a single US tech name can be worth more than every company on a LATAM exchange combined.
