Zealand Pharma A/S is a Danish biotechnology firm dedicated to the identification, progression, and market introduction of peptide-based therapeutics. The company concentrates its efforts on treatments for gastrointestinal and metabolic ailments, as well as other specialized conditions where current medical options are insufficient. Its commercialized product, Dasiglucagon, is an injectable solution provided in a pre-filled syringe or autoinjector, used to address severe hypoglycemia. Furthermore, Zealand Pharma is actively developing Dasiglucagon for inclusion in bi-hormone artificial pancreas systems that integrate both insulin and dasiglucagon. The compound Dasiglucagon is also undergoing late-stage (Phase III) clinical trials for congenital hyperinsulinism. Another significant asset in its development pipeline is glepaglutide, a long-acting GLP-2 analog, which is likewise in Phase III clinical studies for treating short bowel syndrome.
