Adriana Cárdenas to step down as head of Visa Colombia

Adriana Cárdenas will step down from her role as general manager of Visa Colombia in December 2026. The announcement was made during the Visa Payments Day 2026 event. Visa has not yet named her successor.

Cárdenas has led Visa Colombia for five years. She holds a law degree from Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga and has more than 20 years of experience across the Colombian payment ecosystem. Prior to joining Visa, she served as vice president of payment methods at Davivienda, held leadership roles at Granbanco, Bancafé, and Banco del Estado, and sat on the boards of Redeban and ACH.

Reviewing her tenure, Cárdenas highlighted the role of the payments industry in financial inclusion, digital inclusion, and economic transformation. She noted that cutting cash reliance improves transaction traceability and helps combat corruption, while identifying informality as a primary challenge for economic growth in Colombia.
