Apollo to lead $40 billion financing for SpaceX chip purchases
The private equity firm is set to structure bank loans and debt for Nvidia processors.
Apollo Global Management is set to lead a 40 billion dollar fundraise for SpaceX to buy Nvidia processors, the Financial Times reported on October 6, 2026, citing people familiar with the matter.
The transaction includes roughly 10 billion dollars in bank loans and 30 billion dollars in investment-grade debt. Apollo is expected to arrange the transaction and help market the debt to institutional investors.
Fixed-income manager Pimco is also in discussions as part of a small group of lenders negotiating to finance the package, according to the report.
The capital will help fund hardware for SpaceX, which folded Elon Musk's xAI into its business prior to an initial public offering earlier in the year. The company uses Nvidia hardware in its Colossus facility to run the Grok system and lease computing capacity to third parties including Anthropic and Alphabet's Google.
