U.S. asset manager ARK Investment Management has debuted eight of its exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on Colombia's Global Market (MGC), with six of these ETFs also made available in Peru. This development enables investors from both countries to access cutting-edge investment options focused on emerging technologies without the need for offshore accounts, as settlements can be made in local currency.
The ETFs listed cover a range of innovative sectors including artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, blockchain, fintech, and space exploration - areas that have been central to ARK's investment strategy since its inception in 2014.
The collaboration to bring these funds to Colombia and Peru was established through a partnership with Capital Strategies. According to Cathie Wood, ARK's founder and Chief Investment Officer, the lineup of six U.S.-based ETFs and two UCITS ETFs offers broad diversification into disruptive technologies.
The Colombian Global Market is a trading segment within the Colombian Stock Exchange that facilitates the buying and selling of international stocks and ETFs using local infrastructure. Investors here can trade shares of major global companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Alphabet under domestic market conditions.
In the first two months of 2026, trading volume for foreign securities on the MGC reached COP 863 billion, representing nearly 10% of equity trading volume in Colombia.
The ARK ETFs now listed in Colombia and Peru include:
ARKKCO (ARKK) : Focus on autonomous mobility, neural networks, and digital wallets.
ARKWCO (ARKW): Targeting next-generation internet technologies, big data, and Internet of Things (IoT).
ARKQCO (ARKQ): Concentrating on industrial automation, artificial intelligence, and transportation.
ARKGCO (ARKG): Dedicated to biotechnology and health care innovation.
ARKFCO (ARKF): Specializing in fintech and blockchain applications.
ARKXCO (ARKX): Investing in space and defense technology innovations.
ARKICO: Focused on artificial intelligence and robotics.
ARKKUCO: An Irish UCITS fund with a broad portfolio of disruptive innovation themes.
Cathie Wood highlighted five major technological platforms that are evolving simultaneously: artificial intelligence, robotics, energy storage, blockchain, and life sciences multiomics. She emphasized that AI acts as a universal accelerator for these technological areas.
Wood projected annualized returns of around 35% for ARK’s innovation-themed funds over the next five years. She noted that this growth would be spread across a wider range of companies than in previous technology cycles. Unlike the recent past where returns concentrated on the 'Magnificent Six,' she expects a more diversified group to lead future gains.
Discussing the broader economic impact, Wood described the current technological transformation as the "largest revolution in history." She forecasted a significant boost in real global GDP growth—potentially rising from the long-standing 3% to between 7% and 8% within five to ten years. She also referenced Elon Musk's more optimistic view, which suggests growth could reach 10% to 15% in the next 5 to 15 years.
The timing of ARK's listing coincides with robust growth in the Colombian Global Market. In 2025, average daily trading volume on the MGC surged by nearly 134% year-over-year to over COP 15.4 billion. Early data from 2026 indicate sustained growth of approximately 65% compared to the previous year.
ARK Invest experienced rapid growth, reaching nearly $50 billion in assets under management at its peak. Its flagship fund, ARKK, delivered strong gains during the 2020-2021 technology market rally but faced a steep decline of roughly 67% in 2022. The fund rebounded in 2025 with returns around 35-36%, outperforming the S&P 500, although it remains significantly below its all-time highs.
ARK was recognized as the best-performing ETF issuer in the United States in 2025. However, this success did not immediately translate into inflows, as institutional investors remain cautious amid recent market volatility.
