The pharmaceutical company is upgrading its Wuxi complex for cardiovascular therapies.
On 17 September 2026, AstraZeneca announced an investment of nearly 200 million yuan, or 29.81 million dollars, to modernise and expand its industrial and logistics base in Wuxi, located in Jiangsu province in eastern China. The announcement was made by the company's Chinese subsidiary.
The project includes expanding manufacturing capacity and upgrading development lines for the drugmaker's new generation of innovative cardiovascular medications. According to the company's schedule, the upgraded complex is expected to be fully operational by the final quarter of 2029.
The initiative comes as multinational pharmaceutical companies work to strengthen local supply chains, accelerate regulatory approvals, and safeguard their presence in China. The country is the second-largest healthcare market in the world, where foreign firms face rising competition from domestic laboratories and evolving government drug policies.
