The fintech introduces working capital loans of up to 700,000 reais and short-term credit for business accounts.
MercadoLibre's fintech unit, Mercado Pago, announced two new credit lines for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs on September 24 at the 10th edition of Mercado Livre Experience. The rollouts aim to deepen customer engagement and expand the digital account into a full financial platform.
The new offerings include an interest-free loan for seven days for Business Account clients with monthly revenue above BRL 10,000, alongside a working capital line in partnership with BNDES and Sebrae. This facility offers up to BRL 700,000 with repayment terms extending up to 48 months, with gradual rollout planned across the coming weeks.
According to the company, the Mercado Pago ecosystem connects more than 9 million entrepreneurs. Payment volume from clients generating over BRL 10,000 monthly grew roughly 40% over the past year. Nine out of ten active Business Account users currently use three or more platform solutions.
Mercado Pago issued 2.6 million credit cards across Latin America in the second quarter of 2026, up from 1.6 million a year earlier. The 15 to 90 day delinquency rate for the card portfolio stood at 4.6% in the second quarter, while the total credit portfolio posted a default rate of 7.0%. In its insurance division, the company reached 11 million clients in Brazil after expanding more than fivefold over the past three years.
