Atlas Critical Minerals reports maiden Brazil graphite resource
The Malacacheta project holds 24.2 million tonnes of resources across indicated and inferred categories.
Atlas Critical Minerals Corporation announced on September 29, 2026, its maiden Mineral Resource Estimate for its 100%-owned Malacacheta Graphite Project in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The independent estimate was prepared by SGS Canada Inc. under S-K 1300 standards and covers only one tenement of approximately 997 hectares out of three contiguous tenements totaling around 2,822 hectares.
At a 2.0% graphitic carbon cut-off grade, the initial resource includes 17.2 million tonnes of indicated resources grading 5.73% graphitic carbon, containing approximately 986,000 tonnes of graphite. Inferred resources stand at 7.0 million tonnes grading 5.40% graphitic carbon, containing about 378,000 tonnes of graphite, for a combined total of roughly 1.36 million tonnes of contained in-situ graphite.
The resource was defined along roughly 2.5 kilometers of an estimated 11-kilometer graphite corridor using 21 diamond core holes totaling 2,393.90 meters. Key drilling intercepts included 43.10 meters at 6.20% graphitic carbon, 17.30 meters at 10.62%, and 14.20 meters at 9.30% starting from surface. SGS determined that the deposit is amenable to open-pit mining, and the mineralization remains open along strike and at depth.
The company stated that the indicated grade is roughly 25% higher than the 4.6% Measured and Indicated grade at the Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska at the same cut-off, and nearly double the 2.91% Inferred grade at the Kilbourne Graphite Project in New York. Marc Fogassa, Chairman and CEO of Atlas Critical Minerals, noted that concentrate from the project was qualified in prior testing for use in electric vehicle batteries and nuclear reactors. Atlas plans to target a Preliminary Economic Assessment in the second quarter of 2027.
