Blackstone is preparing a final binding bid to acquire Sankei Building, the real estate subsidiary of Fuji Media Holdings, according to a Reuters report on October 6, 2026. Bain Capital and Warburg Pincus are also preparing competing offers for the business.

Sources indicated that the enterprise valuation of Sankei Building, including debt, could reach 1.0 trillion Japanese yen, which equals 6.3 billion dollars. The prospective bidders are evaluating the asset amid strong investor interest in Japanese commercial property.

The planned sale follows pressure on Japanese conglomerates to streamline assets and boost capital efficiency. In February 2026, Fuji Media completed a share repurchase worth 235 billion Japanese yen, retiring 30.0% of its shares. As of September 2026, activist investor Vasanta Master Fund held a stake capped at a 1.0% threshold.

Dealmaking across the sector has expanded significantly. Mergers and acquisitions targeting Japanese real estate reached 15.5 billion dollars year to date through October 5, 2026, up 45% compared to the prior year. Additionally, Japanese nationwide land prices rose 1.5% in the twelve months ended July 1, 2026.
