Bradesco and Claro launch Meu Dinheiro Claro pilot

Banco Bradesco and telecom operator Claro have partnered to launch Meu Dinheiro Claro. The project allows users to pay bills, transfer funds, and make purchases directly from their smartphones.

The service initially rolls out to selected cities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, including Belford Roxo, Sao Joao de Meriti, and Duque de Caxias, as well as Goiania in the state of Goias. Alexandre Olivari, services director at Claro, stated that the product focuses on the 48% of the population without bank accounts. The pilot will remain in testing until early 2014, with plans for nationwide expansion if well received.

Payments operate through a prepaid mobile card accepted at merchants with Cielo payment terminals. Users can load funds at Bradesco Express terminals, while cash withdrawals are limited to Bradesco Dia&Noite automated teller machines in participating cities.

Customers can enroll by visiting a Claro retail store in eligible areas. Debit transactions are free of charge, while transfers carry a fee of BRL 1.50 and withdrawals cost BRL 5.
