Bristol Myers lung drug admilparant meets Phase 3 goal
The 60 mg dose showed statistically significant benefit in forced vital capacity at Week 52.
Bristol Myers Squibb announced topline results from the pivotal Phase 3 ALOFT-IPF clinical trial evaluating admilparant in adults with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on October 12, 2026. The trial met its primary endpoint at the 60 mg dose, demonstrating a statistically significant improvement compared to placebo in absolute change in forced vital capacity from baseline at Week 52.
The study tested two oral doses, 60 mg and 120 mg twice daily, against placebo in approximately 1,255 enrolled patients aged 40 and older. While the 120 mg dose slowed the decline of forced vital capacity, that result was not statistically significant. Across both doses, discontinuations due to adverse events were low and similar to placebo.
Admilparant is an oral LPA1 antagonist. Bristol Myers Squibb plans to complete data evaluation and engage health authorities for regulatory submissions. It is also evaluating the drug in the Phase 3 ALOFT-PPF trial of approximately 1,057 patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis, with topline results expected in early 2027.
