BTG Pactual poll shows Lula approval at 47%

Banco BTG Pactual commissioned a new BTG Pactual/Nexus poll released on Monday, 14 September 2026, showing that approval of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reached 47%, while disapproval stood at 49%. Another 4% did not know or did not answer. The gap narrowed to two percentage points from five points in the previous round published on 8 September, when approval was 45% and disapproval was 50%.

The changes remained within the poll's margin of error of two percentage points. In overall government evaluation, 37% rated the administration as great or good, up from 36% in the previous round, while 44% rated it as bad or terrible, down from 46%. Another 18% evaluated the administration as regular, matching the prior survey, and 1% did not know or did not answer.

Regional and demographic splits showed government approval peaked in the Northeast at 62%, among voters without religion at 63%, among those with primary education at 60%, and at 56% for households earning up to two minimum wages. Disapproval reached 66% in the South, 62% among evangelicals, 57% among those with high school education, 59% among the unemployed, and 58% within the formal economically active population.

Nexus interviewed 2,003 voters by telephone using computer-assisted telephone interviewing between 11 and 13 September 2026. The survey has a 95% confidence level and is registered with the Superior Electoral Court under protocol BR-04076/2026.
