BYD is studying potential investments in Argentina to produce lithium batteries and energy storage systems. Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno announced the discussions on Thursday, October 8, 2026, following a meeting in Singapore with BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li.
According to Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, the Chinese company is evaluating opportunities tied to the lithium value chain. He stated that Argentina is positioning itself as a platform for domestic and export projects under investment and mining policies promoted by President Javier Milei.
The planned manufacturing push would expand BYD's presence in Argentina beyond vehicle sales. The company currently operates a retail network for hybrid cars across the City of Buenos Aires and several provinces.
