BYD expands Racco electric minicar sales to Sri Lanka and Macau
The model approaches 2,000 orders in Japan as international distribution begins
BYD will expand sales of its Racco electric minicar outside Japan, introducing the vehicle to Sri Lanka and Macau. The Chinese automaker announced the move on October 4, 2026, during an event marking 10,000 cumulative passenger vehicle deliveries in Japan since its market entry.
The 3,395-millimeter compact car has accumulated nearly 2,000 customer orders in Japan roughly two months after its commercial rollout. In its first two weeks on sale following the July 28 launch, the model logged 1,002 bookings, with the top-specification Racco 300 Premium trim accounting for 80% of those early reservations.
In the Japanese market, the entry-level Racco 200 features a 22.4 kWh battery pack and carries a base price of 2,145,000 Japanese yen, including consumption tax. The flagship 300 Premium model costs 2,497,000 Japanese yen and uses a 35.84 kWh battery providing up to 320 kilometers of cruising range under the WLTC testing cycle. Japanese authorities grant a national purchase subsidy of 150,000 Japanese yen for the model.
