The company partnered with Willis to broker its own policies and cut costs.
Companhia Brasileira de Distribuição, known as Grupo Pão de Açúcar, announced on September 29, 2026, that its subsidiary GPA 2 Corretora e Administradora de Seguros Ltda. obtained authorization from the insurance regulator Susep. The permit allows the unit to operate nationwide as a property, casualty, and personal insurance broker.
Under the regulatory approval, the subsidiary will intermediate insurance coverage for the company and its affiliates under a co-brokerage model with Willis Corretores de Seguros Ltda. The group aims to increase operational efficiency and generate additional revenue by internalizing services previously performed by external brokers.
By capturing a share of commissions tied to policy premiums, the retailer noted that its commercial strategy and operational scope remain unchanged. Over the past three fiscal years, the company recognized approximately BRL 185 million in premiums solely from surety bonds.
The co-brokerage agreement with Willis provides technical expertise, insurer relationships, placement infrastructure, and claims management support.
