The new Mastercard rewards routine spending with loyalty points for flights, hotels, and travel services.
Despegar launched a co-branded credit card in Colombia in partnership with Banco de Bogotá and Mastercard on 15 September. The card turns daily spending into Pasaporte points that customers can redeem on Despegar for flights, hotel bookings, packages, car rentals, travel assistance, and tours.
The card is issued in four Mastercard tiers based on credit profile: Classic, Gold, Platinum, and Black. Cardholders earn at least one point per dollar spent depending on the tier. The product includes a welcome bonus ranging from 2,000 to 6,500 points, additional bonuses for hitting spending targets during the first quarter, and a six-month waiver on maintenance fees from activation.
Additional perks include the Pasaporte Despegar Explorer tier, a 15% discount on hotels and experiences, and assistance insurance from Grupo MOK covering travel, home, and vehicles. The Platinum card grants five annual airport lounge visits through Mastercard Airport Experiences, while the Black tier includes 10 visits.
Pablo Jaitman, country manager of Despegar Colombia, stated that this launch marks a new chapter for the company in Colombia and reflects its broader push to expand its travel ecosystem across Latin America.
