Argentine electricity distributor Edenor has started operations at its new Moreno substation, located in the west of Buenos Aires province. The facility benefits more than 70,000 customers.

The addition helps relieve electrical networks connected to the Paso del Rey, Merlo, Catonas, and La Reja substations. Edenor noted that the infrastructure will improve continuity and quality indicators for power supply while supporting residential, commercial, and industrial growth across the area.

The installation features 132 kV high-voltage equipment, two 80 MVA power transformers, and primary medium-voltage switchgear using IEC 61850 technology. It also includes auxiliary, protection, fire detection, and remote-control systems. Edenor did not disclose the total investment figure for the project.

In a statement, the company stated that building a substation involves stages ranging from securing land and permits to project planning, construction, equipment assembly, grid connections, and testing.
