Banco Macro launches fund tracking soy prices
The vehicle lets agricultural producers track grain values without storing physical crops.
Banco Macro announced on September 28, 2026, the launch of Fondo Pionero Soja. The investment product targets the agricultural sector and aims to track the price of soybeans without requiring producers to store physical grain.
Presented by Macro Fondos, the mutual fund combines Rosario soybean futures contracts traded on the A3 market with dollar-linked assets. Because those futures are denominated in US dollars, the strategy pairs them with dollar-linked instruments to reflect both benchmark grain prices and exchange-rate fluctuations.
The fund replaces physical grain holdings with a financial position, avoiding storage and maintenance costs as well as shrinkage and spoilage risks. It offers 24-hour liquidity, accepts orders until 15:00 on business days, and receives the tax treatment of mutual funds authorised by the National Securities Commission (CNV).
Ricardo Muñoz, CEO of Macro Fondos, stated that the instrument joins the Pionero family to offer liquid exposure to soybean prices. Macro Fondos manages more than 6 trillion Argentine pesos and ranks fourth in Argentina's mutual fund industry. Federico Taffarell, manager of Macro Agro, noted that the product gives producers an alternative way to hold soy exposure without keeping the physical asset. With this addition, the Pionero line includes 40 investment options across money market, fixed income, equity, and balanced funds.
