Eneva faces dispute over Roraima thermal power subsidies

Âmbar Energia Roraima, a distributor owned by the J&F group, informed power regulator Aneel that a lack of information from Eneva and Brasil BioFuels is preventing the completion of a review of payments and reimbursements for thermal plants in Roraima. The review involves Eneva's Jaguatirica II plant and the BBF Baliza plant.

The recalculation process could alter the amounts billed by power generators and the reimbursements paid through the Fuel Consumption Account, known as the CCC, which subsidises generation in regions historically disconnected from Brazil's national grid. Âmbar presented the status of eight thermal plants undergoing CCC reprocessing to Aneel. Five plants have concluded the process, one is in the final phase, and two remain stalled with no projected end date.

Âmbar stated that Eneva has not submitted updated calculations or information to reconcile values for Jaguatirica II, asking Aneel for guidance on next steps. Eneva responded in a statement that it has already sent all requested information regarding the reprocessing to national grid operator ONS and to Roraima Energia. Eneva also filed an administrative appeal with Aneel against Dispatch 2,282/2024 and is awaiting a technical review.

Âmbar took control of Roraima Energia in July 2026. The correspondence sent to Aneel did not disclose the total financial amounts involved or the complete period covered by the recalculation.
