Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy granted authorizations for four thermal projects backed by 15-year contracts.
On 16 September, Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy granted official permits for 12 power plants awarded in the March capacity reserve auction. The authorizations included four projects controlled by Eneva, which combined represent 2.4 GW of installed capacity, with 1 GW contracted during the auction.
Among the approved assets is the Porto Norte Fluminense II B thermal plant, which has an installed capacity of 291.3 MW. The project requires an investment of BRL 835.7 million and contracted 219.3 MW in the auction, locking in an annual fixed revenue of BRL 477.4 million for 15 years starting in 2031.
Eneva also received authorization for Jandaia 1, a 1.2 GW facility budgeted at BRL 5.8 billion. The plant contracted 441 MW of capacity, securing BRL 996 million per year in fixed revenue over a 15-year term beginning in 2031.
The Ministry also approved permits for the Presidente Kennedy and Presidente Kennedy I plants. Each unit has 441.6 MW of installed capacity, of which 216 MW were contracted at the auction. Both facilities carry an investment estimate of BRL 1.8 billion each and will yield BRL 481.3 million in annual fixed revenue for 15 years starting in 2031.
