The energy firm resolves a commercial dispute tied to an $806 MW offshore project.
GE Vernova and developer Vineyard Wind announced a joint settlement on 16 September 2026 to resolve their ongoing commercial litigation. The agreement ends a dispute tied to their $1.3 billion wind turbine supply and service contract for an offshore installation in New England.
As part of the resolution, GE Vernova withdrew its prior contract termination notice. The legal clash began following a blade failure in July 2024, which led to a requirement to replace 68 blades manufactured by GE Vernova.
Before reaching this settlement, Vineyard Wind had withheld $308 million in contract payments. The developer had also filed a counterclaim seeking $394 million in damages against GE Vernova.
The Vineyard Wind 1 project comprises 62 planned wind turbines with a total planned generating capacity of 806 MW. All 62 turbines are currently reported as capable of generating power.
