The Italian energy company partnered with Vitol to sign agreements for two offshore blocks in the Tano Basin.
Eni has signed two memoranda of understanding with the Ghanaian government alongside commodities trader Vitol. The initial agreements cover offshore blocks GH WB 3 and GH WB 8 in the Tano Basin. The area spans approximately 2,100 square kilometers in water depths ranging from 750 to 2,800 meters.
These agreements serve as a starting point to reach formal petroleum contracts for exploration and production. The initiative follows a Memorandum of Intent signed during the past year. The assets align with Eni's near-field and infrastructure-led exploration strategy, which targets acreage near existing fields to lower costs and speed up development.
Eni has operated in offshore exploration and production in Ghana since 2009. The company also partners with Vitol and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation in the country's OCTP project.
