Former LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky leaves Microsoft
The departure follows an in-person attendance mandate at headquarters in Redmond
Former LinkedIn chief executive Ryan Roslansky is leaving
Microsoft after choosing not to relocate to its Redmond headquarters. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Roslansky confirmed the executive departure in internal memos on October 1, 2026.
The exit follows attendance expectations requiring daily on-site presence at headquarters. Under broader Microsoft hybrid guidelines, staff face a baseline rule of 3 days per week in the office if they live within a commute radius threshold of 50 miles.
Roslansky spent 18 years at LinkedIn and Microsoft between 2009 and 2026. He led the professional networking platform as CEO for 6 years, having taken the position in 2020.
During his tenure as chief executive, LinkedIn expanded its membership from 700 million members in 2020 to 1.3 billion members in 2026. Microsoft originally acquired LinkedIn in 2016 for 26.2 billion USD.
LinkedIn posted year-over-year revenue growth of 11% in the fiscal year ended June 2026. That performance came in a year when LinkedIn also implemented workforce reductions affecting 5% of its staff.
