GSK signs Canadian letter of intent for Blenrep coverage

GSK Canada reached an agreement with the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) on September 22, 2026, signing a Letter of Intent for its multiple myeloma drug Blenrep (belantamab mafodotin for injection). The accord marks the conclusion of price negotiations for adult patients with relapsed or refractory disease who have received at least one prior therapy.

The Letter of Intent does not grant immediate reimbursement. Final public drug plan coverage now depends on GSK finalizing bilateral funding agreements with individual Canadian provinces and territories under their respective review processes.

Health Canada approved Blenrep in July 2025 across two combination regimens: paired with bortezomib and dexamethasone, or with pomalidomide and dexamethasone. Blenrep is an antibody-drug conjugate directed against BCMA, designed to be administered starting at first relapse without requiring hospitalization.

Multiple myeloma ranks as the third most common blood cancer globally, with over 180,000 cases diagnosed each year worldwide. In Canada alone, 4,300 people received a multiple myeloma diagnosis in 2025.
