HCA buys College of Health Care Professions

HCA Healthcare completed its previously announced acquisition of The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) on September 15, 2026. The transaction broadens the hospital system's investments in healthcare education and allied health training pathways.

Founded in 1988, CHCP operates 10 campuses across Texas alongside online programs. The institution currently enrolls more than 8,000 students across over 20 accredited healthcare programs, and it has prepared more than 52,000 students for healthcare careers since its founding. CHCP will keep its operational mission, programs, and adult learner focus under the leadership of Chancellor and CEO Eric Bing.

The transaction expands HCA Healthcare's existing medical training footprint. The provider already supports nursing education via Galen College of Nursing, Research College of Nursing, and Mercy School of Nursing, while sponsoring more than 365 Graduate Medical Education programs across 87 hospitals.

HCA Healthcare operates 190 hospitals and roughly 2,600 ambulatory care sites across 19 US states and the United Kingdom. The company records approximately 47 million annual patient encounters across its clinical network.
