The retailer partners with Wing and DoorDash to deliver home improvement items in Matthews.
Lowe's has started a drone delivery pilot program for home improvement products in Matthews, North Carolina. The retailer partnered with drone operator Wing and delivery platform DoorDash to fulfill orders directly from its Matthews location.
The service delivers select items for both DIY customers and professionals in as little as 20 minutes. Wing manages the flight operations under a current 2.5-pound payload limit. DoorDash integrates the delivery choice into its app for same-day fulfillment.
The test targets quick purchases of forgotten essential tools and supplies. Management views the initiative as part of its broader digital logistics efforts across the roughly 1 trillion dollar home improvement market in the United States and Canada.
