Blykalla deploys Microsoft Azure tools to speed up reactor approvals in Sweden and the United States.
Microsoft announced a collaboration with advanced nuclear developer Blykalla on 15 September 2026. The partnership focuses on using artificial intelligence to speed up nuclear permitting and regulatory licensing workflows.
Blykalla has started deploying the Microsoft GenAI for Energy Permitting Solution Accelerator alongside agentic AI tools. The technology supports drafting, reviewing, and refining regulatory documentation in both Swedish and English for Blykalla's Swedish Advanced Lead Reactor, known as SEALER.
Microsoft is committed to leveraging AI to enable carbon-free, reliable energy. We are pleased to partner with Blykalla to turn regulatory complexity into actionable intelligence as it moves the SEALER through licensing and into commercialization.
Blykalla aims to cut licensing documentation time and required resources by 90%, turning a process traditionally measured in years into months. The company is seeking approvals to build two nuclear reactor parks in Sweden and is engaged in pre-application review with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission as it expands into the United States.
