The company shifted roughly 8,000 employees into sport teams and highlighted running growth.
NIKE outlined the progress of its business turnaround at its 46th annual shareholder meeting on 9 September 2026. President and CEO Elliott Hill said the company restructured roughly 8,000 employees into vertical sport teams under its Sport Offense model, which connects athlete insights directly to product design, marketing, and operations.
The performance segment grew by mid-single digits during fiscal 2026, while NIKE Running posted five straight quarters of double-digit currency-neutral growth and added roughly $1 billion in revenue over that timeframe. In statement footwear across North America and Western Europe, NIKE gained five points of running market share. Wholesale revenue increased 4% for the year, supported by double-digit expansion in North America, while updates reached more than 15,000 wholesale spaces and over 150 direct stores.
Despite these gains, Hill noted that overall performance remains below company targets. Challenges persist in NIKE Sportswear, Jordan Streetwear, Converse, and Greater China. To reposition its inventory, NIKE reduced classic footwear franchises by more than $2 billion in fiscal 2026. Newly appointed CFO Dave Denton noted that capital allocation priorities focus on core brand investments, and highlighted that the firm returned approximately $2.4 billion to shareholders via dividends last year.
Executive Chairman Mark Parker confirmed that shareholders approved all 11 director nominees, ratified PricewaterhouseCoopers as auditor, and approved an amended employee stock purchase plan. Investors rejected two shareholder proposals concerning charitable support practices and science-based emissions disclosures. NIKE scheduled an Investor Day for 16 and 17 November to share further strategic details.
