The partnership focuses on novel small-molecule drugs for cardiometabolic diseases.
Roche has entered into a strategic research collaboration with biotechnology firm Atavistik Bio to discover and develop novel small-molecule therapeutics for cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) diseases. The partnership was announced on September 24, 2026.
Under the agreement, Atavistik Bio will receive an upfront payment of $70 million. The company is also eligible for up to $1.9 billion in potential research, development, and commercial milestone payments, alongside tiered royalties on future net sales of any approved drugs.
The collaboration will use Atavistik Bio's proprietary AMPSTM drug discovery platform to identify functional binding pockets on targets that have historically been difficult to modulate. Atavistik Bio will lead discovery and research activities, while Roche will manage subsequent preclinical and clinical development, regulatory filings, and commercialization.
