Stellantis is stepping up its push into affordable electric vehicles to regain market share in Europe and counter competition from Chinese automakers. At the 2026 Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026, the company showcased six concept cars: the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso, Citroën 2 CV, DS F3VER, FIAT Multiplay, Opel STX and PEUGEOT RCZ Vision.

The Citroën 2 CV concept is central to this push, with a fully electric production model targeted for 2028 at an expected starting price of around €15,000. Stellantis aims to address Europe's shrinking entry-level segment, where high prices have limited EV adoption. In May, the automaker announced that production of its new E-Car category is scheduled to begin in 2028 at its Pomigliano d'Arco plant in Italy.

The initiative is part of a broader turnaround plan running through 2030, which includes launching more than 50 products to expand market coverage in Enlarged Europe by 25%. Stellantis is also relying on its partnership with China's Leapmotor to improve cost competitiveness and accelerate vehicle development against rivals such as BYD, Renault and Volkswagen.

Shares of Stellantis have declined 55.9% over the past year, compared with a 20.6% fall for the wider industry.
