The pan-European index closes at 642.07 points alongside broad European market advances.
The pan-European Stoxx 600 index rose 1.04% to close at 642.07 points on Monday, September 21. European equity markets recovered part of the previous week's losses, supported by falling oil prices and lower government bond yields across the region.
Major regional indexes also finished higher. London's FTSE 100 gained 0.75% to 10,739.01 points, Frankfurt's DAX climbed 1.07% to 25,575.01 points, and Paris's CAC 40 added 0.92% to reach 8,138.94 points.
Technology was among the top-performing sectors in the Stoxx 600, advancing 1.70% following strength in New York markets. Shares of Soitec jumped 9.93%, Aixtron rose 4.91%, and ASML gained 2.50%. The banking sector also advanced 1.78%. Conversely, the energy sector fell 0.78% as crude prices dropped amid reports of transit through the Strait of Hormuz and potential diplomatic talks.
Goldman Sachs equity strategists, including Guillaume Jaisson and Peter Oppenheimer, noted that solid corporate earnings support resilience in European stocks. They stated that the near-term risk is consolidation rather than a bear market, and the bank remains positioned in structural themes such as artificial intelligence, defense, infrastructure, and financials.
