Daily orders hit roughly 700,000 as the instant-delivery service expands to over 60 cities.
On 16 September 2026, disclosures showed that Amazon's quick-commerce unit in India, Amazon Now, crossed $1 billion in annualized gross sales over the trailing three months. The company termed the pace the fastest scale-up of any e-commerce unit in its history in India. Orders on the platform have doubled every quarter since its launch, reaching roughly 700,000 daily orders. That volume represents around 10% of the Indian quick-commerce market by orders and about 14% by value.
The service expanded fourfold in under ten weeks and operates across more than 60 cities and towns using over 750 micro- and urban-fulfillment centers. Amazon is targeting 100 cities by Diwali and plans to run 1,000 dark stores by year-end, working toward a broader goal of covering more than 300 cities nationwide. The instant-delivery arm competes locally against established domestic platforms including Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto, as well as Walmart's Flipkart Minutes service.
The regional expansion accompanies growth in Amazon's broader business. For the second quarter of 2026, the company posted worldwide net sales of $200.6 billion, up 20% year over year. Its International segment generated net sales of $42.2 billion, an increase of 15%, while segment operating income rose from $1.5 billion a year earlier to $1.7 billion. In addition, the group has been testing a Hindi-language version of its generative AI assistant, Alexa+, with Indian users ahead of a full rollout.
Shares of Amazon have gained 7.6% year to date, outperforming a 1.9% gain for its Zacks industry group and a 0.9% decline across the retail-wholesale sector. The Zacks Consensus Estimate projects 2026 full-year earnings of $13.06 per share, representing an 82.15% rise from the prior year's level.
