Advanced Micro Devices surpassed a market valuation of $1 trillion for the first time on Monday, September 21, 2026. The milestone was driven by investor expectations surrounding the chipmaker's expansion in computing hardware for artificial intelligence.
Shares of AMD gained 9.6% during morning trading to reach $613.50, an all-time record high. The rally placed AMD into an exclusive group of semiconductor companies valued at $1 trillion or more amid rising demand for AI systems.
The company previously secured a $1 billion partnership with the United States government announced in October of last year to build supercomputers for scientific research. US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and AMD CEO Lisa Su told Reuters at the time that the systems would support research in nuclear energy, cancer treatments, and national security.
