AMD expands ROCm software to SiFive RISC-V servers

On 17 September 2026, Advanced Micro Devices announced a collaboration with SiFive to optimize its open-source ROCm artificial intelligence software stack for RISC-V datacenter servers.

The joint initiative focuses on enabling AMD's ROCm ecosystem to execute datacenter AI workloads directly on SiFive's RISC-V hardware. Initial technical demonstrations between both companies highlighted expanding cross-industry demand for open datacenter architectures beyond traditional x86 computing.

The US semiconductor group, which holds a market capitalization of about $823.1 billion, produces computing hardware ranging from consumer devices to enterprise servers. The partnership aims to position ROCm as a cross-architecture foundation that supports multiple CPU environments, complementing AMD's existing AI initiatives alongside Instinct accelerators and EPYC processors while facing market competition from Intel, Nvidia, and in-house hyperscaler chips.
