Axia Energia finishes R$ 20M Goiás upgrade early

Axia Energia completed a reinforcement and modernization project at the Bandeirantes substation in Aparecida de Goiânia seven months ahead of the approved regulatory deadline. The company invested R$ 20 million to replace a high-power backup autotransformer. The equipment operates between 345 kV and 230 kV with a capacity of 75 MVA, boosting reliability for the metropolitan area of Goiânia and transmission flows linking southern Goiás, the Triângulo Mineiro, and Brasília.

With the new equipment online, Axia Energia will receive an annual allowed revenue (RAP) of R$ 1.6 million. The facility is currently undergoing further upgrades, including new capacitor banks, reactor banks, digital control systems, and auxiliary services. These ongoing improvements represent an additional R$ 60 million in capital expenditure.

The project fits into Axia Energia's strategy of expanding investments in upgrades for mature transmission assets to lift revenue. Last year, the company allocated a record R$ 4.8 billion to reinforcement and improvement projects, and it expects to maintain a similar scale of spending this year.
